This flower is from our Empress tree. The nut shaped item is a seed pod. The buds of these flowers have been on the tree since last fall. They suffered through the winter and have burst into hundreds of these bell shape flowers. Very Pretty!

Here’s the leaves and flowers of the Empress tree we have in our backyard.  It’s not a native tree but handles our climate quite well.  We’ve had it since it was a pup and it’s now at least 25 feet high.  It has huge leaves in summer.  Right now they are bigger than my hand.  It’s a wondrous tree!
