Here’s an Eastern Grey Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) sitting in the Empress trees in our yard. The Eastern Grey or black in this case are considered an invasive species in British Columbia. Pretty and cute but they have played havoc on the local population of Squirrels. I guess if your bigger and stronger than the local, you’re going to lay down the law!

Along a rock walkway in our yard the Campanula flowers have just come into bloom.

A Bee

A Honey Bee on the flowers of the Cranesbills in our yard. The late afternoon sun brings all the details to the forefront. Geranium is a genus of 422 species of flowering annual, biennial, and perennial plants that are commonly known as the cranesbills

Flicker

Here’s a close up portrait of a Red-shafted Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) busy at a Suet feeder in our yard. This is a male as you can tell by the Red on his neck. The female has no red.
